  • Storage of matured sperm takes place in epididymis. Epididymis is the coil like structure that runs across the top of each testicle.
  • Before ejaculation, sperm remain in the epididymis for about a fortnight
  • During ejaculation, semen consists of fluids secreted from several glands and not just sperm.
  • At the point of climax during sexual arousal, semen travels from the epididymis through a tube called the vas deferens. In vas deferens, it picks up a fluid rich in fructose (sugary substance).
  • Other fluids come from prostate gland, Cowper’s glands and seminal vesicles. Some of the secretions are meant for neutralizing acids (such as urine traces in the urethra).
  • The semen in final stage consist of approx 10% sperm and rest includes enzymes, vitamin C, calcium, protein, citric acid, sodium, zinc, and fructose sugar.
  • Food you eat has an impact on sperm taste
